Privacy Policy
Effective October 4, 2026
The short version
- You can play without an account. We only ask for an email address if you buy Pro, or sign in to unlock a pass you already bought.
- Your progress (driving time, test scores, missed questions and settings) is saved only on your own device. It is never sent to us.
- If you buy Pro, we keep your email address and a record of your purchase so your pass works on any device. Stripe handles the payment; we never see your card number.
- There are no ads, no third-party tracking tools and no cookies.
- To improve the game, we collect anonymous usage stats (like minutes played, minutes driven and questions answered) under a random ID, not your name or email. You can turn this off in Settings.
- Like every website, our web host and our font provider (Google Fonts) see basic technical details, such as your IP address, when your browser loads the site.
- Many of our players are under 18. If you're under 13, please use Ontario Roadie with a parent or guardian.
1. Who we are
Ontario Roadie (ontarioroadie.ca) is a driving game that helps new drivers practise Ontario's rules of the road. It is run by [Operator name], the organization responsible for your information. You can reach us at support@ontarioroadie.ca.
This policy explains what information is involved when you use Ontario Roadie and how it is handled. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
2. Information saved on your device
To remember your progress between visits, the game saves a few things in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device. We can't see it, and it isn't sent to us or anyone else (the anonymous usage stats in section 4 are separate counts, not a copy of your progress):
- your total Free Roam driving time, and how many free minutes you've used today;
- your best G1 practice test scores and the questions you've missed;
- which test routes you've passed;
- your settings (graphics level, mouse driving, how often sign quizzes appear, whether usage stats are on);
- the random ID used for anonymous usage stats;
- whether you've already seen the welcome tour and the driving lesson;
- if you sign in, a sign-in token and the date your Pro pass ends, so Pro unlocks right away on your next visit.
To delete it, clear this site's data in your browser settings (often called "Cookies and site data"). You can also clear your missed-questions list from the G1 Practice Test screen. If you use a shared or school computer, anyone using the same browser profile may be able to see your progress, so sign out from the Account page when you're done.
3. If you buy Pro or sign in
An account is optional and only needed for Pro. When you buy Pro or sign in, we collect:
- your email address, which is your account. You sign in with a one-time code we email you, so there's no password to store;
- a record of each purchase: which pass, the price, the date, when it ends, and Stripe's reference number for the payment.
We use this only to:
- sign you in and unlock Pro on the devices you use;
- email you a confirmation when you buy a pass, and a reminder a few days before it ends;
- handle refunds and questions about a purchase, and keep the records the law requires.
We don't send marketing email, and we don't sell or share your information with advertisers.
These service providers handle it for us:
- Supabase stores accounts and purchase records, in a data centre in Canada (Montréal).
- Stripe processes payments. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us. See the Stripe Privacy Policy.
- Resend delivers our emails (sign-in codes, purchase confirmations and reminders).
Stripe and Resend may process information outside Canada, such as in the United States, where it may be subject to those countries' laws. If you never sign in, Stripe and Resend never receive anything about you.
How long we keep it. We keep your account while you use it. You can ask us to delete it at any time. We'll keep purchase records only as long as tax and accounting laws require (generally six years), then delete them.
4. Information collected automatically
Anonymous usage stats
To learn which parts of the game help people most, and which questions are hardest, the game sends us counts of how it's used. They're filed under a random ID that your browser makes up. It isn't your name, email or IP address, and we don't store your IP address with them. The stats are:
- when you visit, and for how long the game is open and in use;
- which screens you open, and minutes driven in Free Roam;
- test routes you try, and whether you pass;
- each practice-test and sign-quiz answer (which question, and whether it was right), and your test scores;
- when the Pro screen opens and when a checkout starts;
- whether you're on a touch-screen device.
If you sign in, these stats are also linked to your account, so we can see how Pro players use the game. They're stored with Supabase in Canada (Montréal), kept for 13 months and then deleted. We don't sell or share them and don't use them for advertising.
To turn them off, go to Settings and set "Anonymous usage stats" to Off. Nothing about how you play is sent after that. Browsers that send a Global Privacy Control signal start with it off. Clearing this site's data in your browser also gives you a new random ID.
Our web host and font provider
We don't run advertising or third-party tracking tools, and we don't use cookies. Two services do receive basic technical information when your browser loads the site:
- Our web host ([hosting provider]) delivers the site's files. Like all web servers, it receives your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. It may keep this in short-term server logs to keep the site running and secure. We don't use these logs to identify you.
- Google Fonts supplies the font used on the site. Your browser requests it from Google's servers, which receive your IP address and browser information. Google's handling of this is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
These providers may process information on servers outside Canada, such as in the United States, where it may be subject to those countries' laws.
5. Children and teens
Ontario Roadie is made for learner drivers, so many of our players are under 18. The free game never asks for personal information. The only thing it sends is the anonymous usage stats in section 4, which you or a parent can turn off in Settings. There's no chat, profile or way to share information with other players.
- If you're under 13, please use Ontario Roadie with a parent or guardian's permission.
- If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must make or approve a Pro purchase. They can buy it with their own email address and sign in on your device.
- If you think a young person has given us personal information without a parent or guardian's permission, contact us at support@ontarioroadie.ca and we will delete it.
6. If you email us
If you contact us, we'll receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you, we don't add you to any mailing list, and we delete the conversation once it's resolved unless the law requires us to keep it. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before emailing us, and don't include more personal details than you need to (like your full name, address, school or phone number).
7. Links to other websites
We link to other sites, such as the Official MTO Driver's Handbook on ontario.ca. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this policy doesn't cover them.
8. Your rights
Under PIPEDA you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw your consent. If you've never bought Pro or signed in, we hold nothing about you beyond any email you've sent us and anonymous usage stats we can't connect to you. If you have an account, you can ask us to show you, correct or delete your email address, purchase records and the usage stats linked to your account. Contact us and we'll respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with how we handle a privacy concern, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change how Ontario Roadie handles information, we'll update this page and its effective date. If we start collecting anything new, we'll update this policy before collecting it, and explain exactly what is collected and why.
